• Hi Guys!

I’m using the great WordPress SEO, by Yoast. There’s only one tiny problem. The auto-excerpt that this plugin creates when using %%excerpt%%, fits exactly in the recommended length for a meta-description. But, I use some other text in the description as well, so it gets too long. Is there any way to shorten this generated %%excerpt%%?

    Thanks! ??

  • There is, by filtering it, but to be honest, I’d just leave it a bit longer, Google will show the relevant bits to users, and if you’re going to cut it off automatically, you might as well let Google decide what to do.

Hi Joost, thanks for your reply!

You right about Google only showing it partly or doesn’t show it at all (if not searched for parts mentioned in the metatags) So I will take both in consideration, but how does this filtering works?
