[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Shortcode text seems invisible to yoast

I’ve got some text which is sandwiched between two shortcodes to lay it out in two columns. Yoast doesn’t seem to be able to read this text and tells me I have 1 word in my content.
Is there a way to fix this?
