NOTE: I am now updated to the latest version of WordPress; however, some of these issues have persisted since 2 versions earlier.

I really hope someone can help with this, or that Yoast has an update on the way.

Initially, I’ve had problems with the plugin being incredibly inconsistent with pulling the og:img for the post when users click the Like button, or copy and paste the link into Facebook. The image would only render less than 50% of the time. This has been an ongoing issue since 2 versions back.

Now I am having an error show up in the Linter stating:

Inferred Property The og:locale property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

I have tried to add the og:locale by hardcoding into the head, initially it was there, now I still get the issue, even though it is in the source code?

Any help on this would be much appreciated. We all know how important it can be to have users be able to successfully share your content on Facebook.

    Thanks.

LOL. You just updated that didn’t you? I was on the most recent version when I wrote that, though I may have missed it?

I have made the updates, but am still not seeing the thumbnail in the FB post (Linter is showing all good). I will give it 24hrs though as FB can be a pain like that.

Thanks for the heads up on 1.1 and fingers crossed it works. Oh, and no issues with WP 3.3 that I see thus far.

Just wanted to give you an update Joost. I still have no images showing when posting links into Facebook? I keep checking in the Linter and there is nothing to suggest issues with this part and it shows my OG images in there?

Any suggestions? Is anyone else having this issue with the plugin?

What URLs are you having issues with? Isn’t something else blocking Facebook from properly grabbing your pages?

I’m finding that the plugin uses the first image in the post for og:image, but does not use the first image in the page. For pages only the thumbnail and default OG image seem to work. Joost, can you get og:image first image within the_content for pages to work? Using WP3.3 and Toolbox 1.3.

I think that I may have worked it out! Some of my older posts were working, though it was seemingly inconsistent. It appears that the aspect ratio of the images can effect the OG grabbing and displaying them on Facebook. I read somewhere on Monday night something like a minimum ratio of 3:1? I just tried one of my older posts and it worked. Will write a new post now and test out the theory.

Joost, here is a url for you to see, in the event that this theory I just had does not work, or if you find something else that could be an issue…

It’s the image ratio guys. My latest article works, though last nights didn’t, nor did the day befores. Keep that in your back pocket for issues in the future ??

    Thanks for the help!

Ok you might be on to something with the image ratio, will dive a bit deeper on that.

Hey Joost, I am having the same issue: I have a post with five images but in the FB linter it looks like there is only one <meta property="og:image" getting generated. Other posts work fine, but I have seen this difficulty before a couple of times. If it is an image ratio thing, I can’t see that it has anything to do with 3:1 — I have images of many shapes & sizes.

This site is optimized with the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin v1.1.2

If you want to look at the page:
    https://credostlouis.org/2012-credo-forums

Facebook is not recognizing the og:Image tag generated by WP SEO by Yoast.

Running WP 3.2.1 And WP SEO by Yoast 1.03

Facebook image will not generate particularly with using “share on Facebook”.

FB Linter says: Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed
“Inferred Property: The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags”

Tried Upgrading to WP 3.3.1 and WP SEO by Yoast 1.5
Same Problem. No image generated and Same Facebook warning.

    In Facebook Linter under the
    Raw Open Graph Document Information:
    Meta Tag:<meta property=”og:title” content=”Cubiertas y Medidas />
    Meta Tag:<meta property=”og:description” content=”Cubiertas y Medidas />
    Meta Tag:<meta property=”og:url” content=”https://cubiertaeuro.com/&#8221; />
    Meta Tag:<meta property=”og:site_name” content=”Cubierta Euro” />
    Meta Tag:<meta property=”og:type” content=”article” />

But No tag for og:image appears. It seems that Facebook is not recognizing the og:Image tag generated by WP SEO by Yoast?
