  • Meta descriptions added in Yoast SEO not taking effect in Google search.

I’m having a similar problem as well. Google seems to be just pulling something from my ‘about’ page or other various places on my site, depending on the search terms used. It doesn’t seem to be pulling the meta description anywhere I’ve seen yet (it has crawled my site). It has updated the titles and such, so I know some of what I’ve put into Yoast SEO is working. Also, the title and description are showing up as I’d expect in Bing, so this just seems to be a Google thing.

Woo Themes suggested looking into this link:
https://rield.com/how-to/defining-a-canonical-hostname and to contact my host / domain registrar for more details on it. I am doing this right now.

    OK

lets compare I have 2 blogs

    1) is using wootheme, woocommerce and seo yoast

    2) is using coraline theme with SEO ultimate

it is the 1st using the woo and yoast which I am having the issues with

we use our own dedicated server, canonical is perfect so the issue either sits with woo or yoast, as my meta description is being pulled from the new products widget which is wrong

wonder when someone from yoast will shed light on this as we are tied to them using woocommerce, next time i will buy CCP instead of woo as they dont tie you down

I am having this exact same issue with WooCommerce and latest version of Yoast’s plugin.

the front page is displaying the meta description tag of the first product rather than the one I specifically set for the front page.

    GoDaddy suggested this:
It appears that you are receiving an error in Google Site Analytics about your redirects. Upon review, the error is indicating that the siteurl and home for your WordPress application is https://ruralcreativelife.com. Google is saying that you will need to update that to what they want and generate any redirects from https://ruralcreativelife.com to https://www.ruralcreativelife.com. You can change the siteurl and home from within your wp-admin panel. Since this is something done within the WordPress admin panel, this is something you would need to change and we cannot provide assistance with since it is a third party application.
In the General section my WP and Site URLs do not include “www” and I was going to change them until I got reading the link in this section that talks about how changing them will point to a new directory. I did not make the change.

how did redirects get dropped into this post, it has nothing to do with the post title???

    scruffy1,
I am grabbing at straws to find an answer because barely understand this topic. I thought another issue, redirects, is causing this matter but according to you that is not the case.

any news about this?? since the last update my home page description keeps showing the description of a random product from WooCommerce instead of my description.

I have a wootheme that I have been using for six months and this is the first time that this issue came up. When I disable this plugin then description is displayed properly so I know the last update had something to do with this..

    Plz help!

Found the matter to be related to the link to mail chimp— was not entering the account code in the right places in the WooTheme.

i appreciate the response but that does not make any sense in my case.. I don’t use mail chimp for anything

Did anyone find any solution to this, besides mentioning other problems?

    Would be nice…
