It seems like a nice plugin, but I don’t want “<!– This site is optimized with the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin v1.0.3 – http;//yoast.com/wordpress/seo/ –>” in the source code of every page!

I see no option to turn it off, so this is blatant spam. Worse, it is potentially very dangerous: if a security hole is found, then it is too easy to find sites that use a specific version of the plugin, so they can be exploited.

So will this be removed, made an option or does anybody know where (through which file) this gets injected?

    Cheers

  • the debug excuse is pretty lame.

Actually, for those of us who do a lot of general WordPress troubleshooting and support, these comments are extremely useful.

If that’s the case why not make it optional?

Why? What’s the problem with it?

Are you using this plugin at your sites esmi?

Why? Have I used plugins with similar comments in their output? Yes.

If you don’t like them, don’t use the plugin.

Come on guys, there is easy to remove it, but it reappear when the plugin is updated. Not big deal to remove it, but neither very annoying. However, there are some option in which All in one SEO Pro is better ^^ (my opinion)

I found Yoast’s plugin better but either way you are right, both things aren’t very annoying!

Also jmzolezzi, you don’t need to compress the html if you don’t want. You can remove the lines I specified above and those debug lines will be removed.

If your only complaint about a plugin is the fact that it adds an HTML comment to your site’s <head> then I think you need to relax. It’s a great plugin, but if you feel that strongly about an HTML comment then don’t use it.

The only legitimate concern, as mentioned above, is the fact that if there is an exploit found in the plugin, it would be easy to find out which sites have the plugin installed. With that said, the benefits of WordPress SEO outweigh any complaint I may have so I’ll continue to use it.

    Thanks Joost!

This is an awesome plugin and it’s free! The least we can do is offer props to the author.

I don’t like extra html in my sites either, but because I do want to thank the author, I’ve added it to my humans.txt file which seems like a fine way to say thank you without adding cruft to the website.

kind of just seems like good manners when we’re using tools offered up freely

First world problems… Just remove the coding if you have a problem with it. I’d be thankful that such a plugin is 100% FREE. For you guys to come in here and bash Joost for his decision is uncalled for.
