I’m using WordPress SEO 0.2.3.4. I submitted both the .xml and .gz files to the Bing Webmaster tools, and I got the following error message. I rebuilt and rebuilt the sitemap multiple times. The sitemap verifies correctly in Google.

My sitemap contains many custom post types, includes images, and in total has 8,289 items.

    HTTP code: 200
Severity: Error Line: 417 Position: 5 Message: The element 'image' in namespace 'https://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1' has invalid child element 'caption' in namespace 'https://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1'. List of possible elements expected: 'license' in namespace 'https://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1'.

My website is at https://soccerreviews.com, and the sitemap is at https://soccerreviews.com/sitemap.xml, if that helps debugging at all.

I rebuilt my sitemap with WordPress SEO 0.2.3.5.1 with the same results.

Disable the images in sitemap, Bing doesn’t understand these.

@joostdevalk: How does one go about disabling images in the sitemap? I have looked everywhere in the editor and searched for the word image or images and there is no checkbox to disable images in the sitemap. Can you please let me know under what menu this falls? Thanks.

Nevermind. It appears that I was working on an older version and WordPress said that I had the latest version up-to-date, but that wasn’t the case. I had to deactivate the plugin, search for WordPress SEO and there it asked me to update the plugin to the latest version. Very round-about way to get it done, but now it is done.

    Perfect ??

Next version will include option to have separate sitemaps with and without images and won’t be generating them as static files anymore.

Any date on this? Bing won’t accept my sitemap and I need my images on my sitemap.
