[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] 404 Error after upgrading to WordPress 3.3.1

When I upgrade to WordPress 3.3.1 I get 404 errors even with all the plugins de-activated.
I am currently using WordPress 3.2.1
In WordPress 3.3.1 there is a POSTNAME option which come selected because I previously used a custom permalink of %postname% in WP 3.2.1
Even though I used a custom permalink of %postname% in WP 3.2.1 the new Postname option in WP 3.3.1 gives my posts 404 errors never-the-less.
How can I solve this? this is the same %postname% that I have been using before the option came in WP 3.3 and now it does not work after I upgrade from 3.2.1.
Is there an HTACCESS entry that would word in this case considering that I have been using Custom permalinks %postname% all along before WP 3.3 came along and messed it up for me.
