  • “Hope that makes sense.” Yes, that makes perfect sense Hector.

But, here is what I am finding, thus far:

When I use the include method (no dashes)
    It is working just fine.

But, when I use the exclude method (with dashes)
It does not appear to working right.

Oh wait, I think I did something wrong. Please give me a moment to try this again.

OK, I did do it right, and what I said, above, appears to be the case:
As far as I can tell, the include method seems to be working fine, and the exclude method does not appear to be working right.

I am also able to have my two (Popular Posts) widgets up, simultaneously, without any errors. That is great!

2.3.0 appeared fine until i logged off. Then all the main column displayed was the error Ciaomom pasted above.

I rolled mine back to a previous version and all was fine.

    Fun.. Huh.. LOL!

Works perfect now 2.3.0 – thanks!

When I load 2.3.1 do I need to delete the 2.3.0 folder?

@ciaomom, edkoon did you read the last few posts? I posted a link to a test version of the plugin that should fix that…

@markross1967 mmm alright then, I’ll take a look into that. How are you setting the Category ID field? Are you mixing both accepted categories and excluded ones (eg. 1,-5,8) or just excluding IDs?

@delfinparis you just need to substitute the files inside your wordpress-popular-posts folder with the ones in the zip file.

“Are you mixing both accepted categories and excluded ones (eg. 1,-5,8) or just excluding IDs”?

No, Héctor, I am not mixing them at all.

Just excludes was not working for me.

Just includes is working just fine.

Alright. Will take a look into that tomorrow as I’ll be away from the computer in the next few hours. Will report back once I take a peek into the category exclusion part.

For the time being, please people test thoroughly the plugin version 2.3.1 I posted on page 2 and let me know if you encounter any issues that haven’t been reported yet.

    hello,
I’ve just installed version 2.3.1; now the problem is solved at least with the wordpress database error and no data to show problem, however I still have some issue with thumbnails which I do not see in both Chrome and Firefox.
Let me know if you need more help, in the meantime I will switch back again to 2.2.1 (disable 2.3.1, cancel the plugin and install again 2.2.1).
    Thanks,
    Marco

I’m having a different issue than the column problem everyone else has reported. I have not yet installed the new version because I’m not sure if it will fix my problem or not. I have buddypress installed, and when I click on an post authors link, it should take the visitor to the authors buddypress profile page. Instead, when you click on the author’s link, this shows up:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' '2012-09-02 02:22:58', '2012-09-02 02:22:58') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE last_view' at line 1]
    INSERT INTO sd_popularpostsdata (postid, day, last_viewed) VALUES (, '2012-09-02 02:22:58', '2012-09-02 02:22:58') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE last_viewed = '2012-09-02 02:22:58', pageviews = pageviews + 1;

Is this fixed in the x.x.1 version, or is this something new that will need to be fixed?

I do want to say thank you for the plugin, though. It’s been great (up until this point) and like the previous poster said, shi* happens sometimes… but the speed and willingness to being responsive to fixing the issues appears to be amazing… something other developers should take note of.

I installed the fixed version and up to the moment it works correctly. I crossed the fingers…

2.3.1 version installed and everything is back to normal.

    Thank you so much Héctor.

@hcabrera – I updated the plugin to the wpp-2.3.1 version and I’m still having the problem that I mentioned above, which is when you click on an user link to take them to their BP profile, you get the following error:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ ‘2012-09-02 13:05:25’, ‘2012-09-02 13:05:25′) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE last_view’ at line 1]

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ ‘2012-09-02 13:05:25’, ‘2012-09-02′) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE pageviews = pagevi’ at line 1]
