  • Ask the Star Ratings plugin developer to fix their plugin by NOT inserting his/her Java script in the header of every backend page.

Irritating to say the least that Star Ratings is not playing nice. My work around is to disable Star Ratings while I create the NAVT menu and then reactivate Star Ratings when I’m finished. I’ve used the Star Ratings on too many posts to give it up until I find a suitable replacement.

Thanks for this post. I couldn’t figure out why NAVT stopped working and thought it was a 2.6.x issue based on other posts. It wasn’t until I deactivated Star Ratings that I discovered this was the real issue in my case.

I am the author of GD Star Rating. I have tested my plugin with NAVT and both of them work fine.

My rating plugin supports review feature too, and I can add import feature from Star Rating For Review plugin, so you can switch to my plugin, since Star Rating For Review is not updated for the long time. This way you can even add more rating features and still have all the review ratings from before.

Thanks GDragoN, that sounds like the way to go. When do you think you’ll be able to add the import feature?

I am positive that it’s not going to be a problem to add import feature. I will try to do it as soon as possible, maybe even for the next release in a few days.

I have released new version of GD Star Rating plugin and it can import review ratings from Star Rating For Reviews plugin. I have tested it on limited data I had, but it would be good to have some real test. Important thing is that importing will not change any of the old data, so it’s safe to try on the live blogs.

    Wow, that was quick work!

The import feature seems to work well but I’m struggling to use GD Star Rating as a substitute for Star Rating for Reviews in its current form (although I’d like to).

It doesn’t seem to be possible to give a review rating inline and I’m also getting this problem

Would it be possible to add attributes to the starreview shortcode to allow a review rating valu to be added inline?

Alternatively, perhaps a new vote rule: Only Author Can Vote

Just a couple of ideas. Great plugin but I just can’t get it to do exactly what I need (yet).

Review rating is rendered using divs and they are very tricky to show inline. But, for static values like review rating that will be possible soon because I am working on alternative rendering method for such cases.

I was considering ‘Only Author Can Vote’, but that’s not going to happen since review rating already exists.

Unfortunalty there are too many themes and too many different cases when it comes to positioning and styling that it’s almost imposible to create rendering that will work in every single case especially when it comes to something complicated as rating.

But, plugin will continue to improve, and hopefully more and more things will be added.

Thanks for that! GD Star Rating has to have the most active support/development I’ve come across!
