[Plugin: WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Map a sub-domain to an MU Subdomain

  • i have a network site created (which is not my main site) and i want to point a sub-domain (hosted somewhere else) at this network sub-domain… it’s all very confusing, and i don’t think the instructions for the plugin address this specific issue. help?

  • Same process, but use a CNAME instead of an A record.

    Try the A record. If you can’t get that to work, then use the CNAME. It;s two ways of doing the same thing, the A record is faster, but at some hosts, you can;t ut an IP address in a cname or a subdomain in an A record.

    Looks like i can’t do domain mapping because my site is installed in a folder called blog. That sucks. I get this message when trying to activate it. Might help to say this in the plugin directory. Or did i overlook it?

    The domain mapping plugin only works if the site is installed in /. This is a limitation of how virtual servers work and is very difficult to work around.

    I think it does.

    Actually, the warning used to not be there, as if you domain mapped, the foldername where you installed it woudl also show up.
