[Plugin: WordPress Move] A few questions before I move sub domain to root

  • Hi, Sorry if these are silly questions, the help docs arent as clear as hoped and wanted to check the procedure before I went ahead and tried this out.

    Im moving my site from subdomain “dev.davidmattock.co.uk” to the root “davidmattock.co.uk” and I wanted to check,
    1) do I still need to fill in the FTP connection details if Im just using change domain name.

    2) Do I simply set the old and new domain names, run it, then move my files from dev folder to the root in my FTP ?
    or do I have to move my files before running wordpress-move ?

    Hey Sorry to ask again, but Ive had no response to my post. Do you think someone could put my mind at ease with the few questions I had so I make sure I do things correctly, Huge thanks

    if am moving my site from an subdomain to main domain root, i would move my files in root as an copy of files from subdomain folder, then ill update any necesary files to reflect new domain, and ill go into datanase an manually update everywhere that has the subdomain dev.davidmattock.co.uk to davidmattock.co.uk, if your not too familair with updating links in database you can use wordpress plugin to do this

    HI Thanks for the reply, but Im asking these questions about the plugin “wordpress-Move” 1.3.1 not how to do it manually… this is this particular plugins support forum right ? thanks

    Well, after over a week of waiting for any support at all, I went ahead and tried it anyway, and it worked great !, I didnt need to set up any ftp details or anything, as I was just changing the domain name.

    I just moved my files to the root folder and entered the old and new domain names in teh settings and it worked perfect.

    The support for this plugin is absolute zero, but the plugin is amazing, thanks
