• I just installed WordPress Mobile Edition 3.0, and while I think it’s great overall, I’ve run into one critical problem: pingbacks cause a page to stop parsing.

It looks like a few dependencies on Carrington functions weren’t quite removed — or else the functions were removed incorrectly. comments/pings-loop.php is trying to call cfct_comment_list_class() and comment/ping.php is trying to call cfct_comment_class(), neither of which are defined anywhere in WP Mobile Edition.

It’s worth noting that I ran into this on two blogs, neither of which uses a Carrington-based theme.

If I pull those calls out, the page at least finishes parsing, but the pingbacks themselves aren’t quite displayed right — the other blog’s title and link are missing, for instance. But at least the rest of the page is actually generated.

  • OK, solved it.
You have to delete the old installation and start over.
Now the correctly named files are present in the 3.0.3 download.
In the themes directory the new folder should be installed like this:
    wp-content/themes/carrington-mobile-1.0.1
    Then it will work.

On the other hand . . . when I say solved, I mean that I no longer get the message saying it is installed incorrectly. It looks good and when activated I get the message that it is activated.
But when I try to access the site on my mobile (Nokia n95) through the Nokia user agent (listed in Settings), it only comes up with a blank screen.
If I deactivate WordPress Mobile Edition I can access the site easily on the phone.
Does anyone else have a better experience?

    But 3.0.4 works perfectly.

“OK, solved it. You have to delete the old installation and start over.”

No release notes are part of the problem. Between 3.0 or 3.0.1 and 3.0.3 the theme folder name changed. Along with an inline WP upgrade, led to the installed incorrectly message.

    Guys help!

Firstly I was getting an the following error … error loading default 209 when looking at post pages. Everything else seems fine, about.. pages.. authors etc.. but when i went to look at posts it just fell on its face.

Its strange, its working fine on my dev site but when i moved my work onto live it started kicking up a fuss. What could have caused this? Also my dev site was online, so this is not a locahost sort of issue..

Also i clicked the “Exit Mobile Edition” button at the bottom of the page (not sure if this is a feature of the plugin or the carrington theme) so how on earth do i get to look a the site again in mobile mode. Ive tried re/naming/placing theme folders and plugins all to no avail. This is killing me! Any help would be amazing!

    Cheers!

humm ok i can now view my mobile theme again, had to manually clear all the history, cashe and cookies in the settings/safari but still getting this Error Loading default 209! errr
