I have various ips across the internet scanning all my content, using the archive pages…

they make 5-10 request per second, and the “attacks” last for a minute or so.
the date based archives they are scanning for are disabled (with another plugin). so now, they get a 301 redirect instead of getting the actual archive content, but still, the attacks persist and use up all my web server processes…

would this plugin detect this rapid access and block the offending ip? If not, would you consider it as an enhancement?

  • I’m looking for a plugin to prevent this from happening too. Last week my site was scanned (probably for the timthumb file that I don’t have) and they took down the complete server my site is on, so my host had a few hundred websites down……….
I rather not be the cause of such a thing again.
