[Plugin: WordPress File Monitor Plus] .htaccess date-stamp changed while in admin

It appears this is not just affecting the .htaccess file. On another wordpress installation, it’s updating the date stamp of a file called “stats/logs” and the peculiar thing about this case is the “stats/logs” file can’t be seen via FTP. Is it possible this file is hidden?

It’s always just one file. Anyone else notice this?

Every time the permalinks settings are changed wordpress touches the .htaccess file thus giving a new modified time stamp.

as for your stats/logs file obviously you have some system that writes to that file on a regular basis so you will continue to get alerts for that file every time it changes. You need to exclude the file or directory from the scan to stop it from being notified each time.

However, I haven’t touched the permalinks settings since I set up the website, and that was months ago. This problem didn’t start until I installed this plugin.

Are the permalink setting modified in some other way?

Well of course the problem will go away when you deactivate the plugin because the plugin will no longer report an file changes.

For what ever reason you .htaccess file keeps getting touched and the last modified time of the file is changing. And because of that every time the file monitor runs it will notify you that the file has been touched.

If you are absolutely sure that the file modified date is just changing then in the settings of the file monitor disable the the file check method Date Modified.

My appologies for wasting your time, Scott. It appears the theme I was using was doing something to the .htaccess file upon login/logout.

umm interesting that a theme needs to keep writing to the file. Oh well glad you figured it out.
