[Plugin: WordPress Amazon S3 Plugin] Plugin could not be activated because of a fatal error

I get the following error when I try to activate the plugin:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting '(' in /path/to/wp-content/plugins/wp-s3/s3.php on line 189

I see nowhere to configure any settings for this plugin, probably because it needs to be activated first. How do I fix this? Are there some installation instructions somewhere that I’m missing?
