I have both a WooThemes theme and the WooCommerce plugin:

For WooThemes themes, there’s the ability to add Google Analytics tracking to the page in the General Settings:

“Paste your Google Analytics (or other) tracking code here. This will be added into the footer template of your theme.”

    It’s also in WooCommerce:
Settings -> Integration Tab -> Google Analytics ID

Should I set it in both places, or only the WooCommerce one?

    Hello,

You only need to set it within the WooCommerce Integration tab if you plan on enabled ‘ecommerce tracking’.

    Thanks

    I am, thanks.

So I’ll remove it from the theme ??

I can imagine that being in both places, it can cause a few bugs…

Important Update: I removed it from the WooTheme settings but left my UA-XXXXX-X number in the WooCommerce plugin, and the Google Code disappeared from my page source.

Turns out it is needed in both places?

How about the google adwords conversion code? How is it added? And where?

Did you ever find the answer to your questions. I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks.

    Thanks..

i have the same issue , i added the id to the woocommerce tab but its hard to believe it can track it with just the code. since Google provides the id and the script i added both. but my theme dident have a place to add it and i didnt want to try to figure out how to add it threw the editor or i installed a plugin called “insert headers and footers” i pasted the code there but my Google analytic is still saying no tracking info. im going to wait 24 hour and see if it updates but i would like to know i have it done right . if i dont need it in both places i would like to remove it so its not interfering. also what about the ad words conversion code?

But if you add this to your theme’s function file make sure you do it again if you update the theme.

Hi Lindsay, I used this info from the page you linked to but it breaks my page and i cannot figure out what it is thats causing it

There are some good troubleshooting tips for setting up WooCommerce and GA eCommerce transactions at the bottom of this tutorial.
