    I’ve got a standard ‘HTML’ website with fasthosts.co.uk that has an SSL certificate with the following Issuer:

    CN=Encryption Everywhere DV TLS CA - G2, OU=www.digicert.com, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US

    I am about to migrate the site to a WordPress one I’ve built as a sub-domain under the current live site. I will install WP then copy the files across. Really Simple SSL is installed on the development site in readiness but not active as it’s not a secure site. Once I get the WP version as the live site and activate R-S-SSL, will the plugin automatically detect the certificate? Is there some setup to do, e.g. enter the certificate serial no.?

    I use your plugin on other sites but they were setup via Let’s Encrypt a while ago and I can’t remember the process, but it just seemed to “happen”…!

    Hi @zimbo000,

    If you already have a valid SSL certificate installed on your server, Really Simple SSL will indeed be able to detect that this is the case.

    Therefore you should indeed be able to simply click “Activate SSL” in the plugin to enforce your WordPress site over HTTPS.

    In cases where you do not have a valid SSL certificate yet, this is when the “Let’s Encrypt Wizard” would be useful; as it allows you to generate a free SSL certificate for your domain.

    Hope this helps/clarifies!

    Kind regards, Jarno
