[Plugin: Wiredrive Player] Invalid URL Error

We are trying to use the wiredrive player plugin with wordsmith. Whenever we try to post a url we receive an “invalid URL” error. I have tried the recommendations made by the WireDrive support but it did not resolve the problem.
When I receive the error, the following entry is made in my Apache Error log:
[Mon Dec 12 15:38:51 2011] [error] [client 10.130.245.248] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function filter_input() in /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wiredrive-player/proxy.php on line 25, referer: https://10.130.245.142/wordpress/wp-admin/post.php?post=4&action=edit
