Plugin Wanted: Membership Directory List

Hello there,

I am after a plugin that I believe does not yet exist, therefore if there are developers out there who want to take this project on, I do believe that it is not an extensive one. Paid or Unpaid, I am not fussy as long as it works how I want it to!

I am developing a website for an association that I am a member of. I would like a plugin that would list the members of this association according to the various areas of the UK they work in. Some members work just one area, some work multiple areas.

From the client side I imagine the system to work using pages, whereby each region has it’s own page. When someone selects a region, a concise list of members in that area is presented. You can then drill down by clicking on a member and be presented with their full profile. It is important that e-mail addresses are mungled in some way so that harvesters cannot pick them out.

On the backend side, we would like to be able to define the areas our members work in, and be able to add/remove them as necessary. And to keep it simple so that other not-so-web-elequant friends of mine can add members to this list, I would like a basic field entry structure containing several text fields (name, company, telephone, cell, biography, etc.) and an image upload field (or two). I guess then a simple checkbox system to select which areas this member works in.

I have looked around already for something like this but appear to have drawn a blank. There are plenty of membership systems for WP, but none that work in this very simple manner.

I have tried to re-create a simple system using a number of categories within WP assigned to their own category template which then lists all the members(posts) in that category, but it’s not quite what I need as our post screens will soon fill up with over 100 posts containing member profiles which is not what I am after.
