    Hi

    website is https://smokingdesigners.com

    my problems are the following.

    1) minify with 3.3 wordpress don’t work.

    2) I have disabled everything except CDN and STILL my website response time minimum is 1.5 seconds to connect to for first byte. Also my website opens up in one peace so when I open an article with 30 photos I see a blank page for 1-3 seconds and then BOOM site loads instantly. What should I do in order to open in parts like first css and java then images sidebar etc..

    3) What can I do in order to decrease my response time?

    4) My response time increase a lot more if I enable page cache or browser cache.

Also the compatibility with WP-TOUCH plugin is not possible. Website loads in 10 seconds if I enable wp-touch plugin.

    I am using

    Cloudflare
    MAX CDN
    Go Daddy Shared hosting

    Should I do a re-install of the w3 total cache ?

  • Hi,
I have the exact problem and the same configuration. The only diference is that my WP is still on the 3.2 version.

    My site address is: https://www.all-about-portugal.com
I’m using cloudflare, max CDN at GoDaddy.

I even put this question to godaddy’s support, but in fact, if I browse to a image file outside WP, the response is very quick, as you can see on this image.

Currently I have >6s waiting for the first byte.
    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance.
    JC

When you disable the CDN does that help the load times?

If you’re using MaxCDN and Cloudflare, try setting your MaxCDN origin URL to bypass Cloudflare’s system. You can do this with the direct.yourwebsite.com address that Cloudflare automatically sets up for you.

    Hope that helps.

    Chris

Now I’ve totally disabled MaxCDN and Cloudflare…
And I still have the same results.

    What am I missing here?

    A couple ideas:

Disable your plugins/theme one at a time until you see the response time improve.

If your hosting allows multiple sites, you could setup a blank site and see if it is slow – if so, there’s probably something wrong with GoDaddy’s server.

Thanks Chris for your support until now.
    I’ve did what you’ve suggested:
    1) on the same godady host account, I’ve created a blank site https://www.viajar-em-portugal.com

I’ve installed the same theme and here is the result without any other plugin: result without W3

    2) then I’ve installed the W3 TOTAL CACHE plugin and this is the result: WITH W3 TOTAL CACHE

    CONCLUSION
The initial TTFB was not marvelous but it was acceptable for a WP site without any Cache plugin: ~0.9 to 1s.

After I install W3 Total Cache I get ~1.5 to 2.1 seconds for the first byte. What could be wrong?

Thanks again for your help but I’m very happy with the plugin. It is by far the most complete one available.
But the several advantages of it are getting hidden by enormous TTFB that puts away several visitors and It’s something that I urgently need to solve.

    Regards,
    JC

I would try using W3 with the page cache enabled to “disk enhanced.” Disable all other caching options. Some of the settings can cause problems in various hosting environments.

If this is still slowing down your site, total cache is not actually working for some reason. If it makes it better, than you can gradually re-enable the other options until you find the issue.

    Hi Chris,
unfortunately I have uninstalled W3 Total Cache.
After uninstalling/re-install several plugins without any influence on the final result, I’ve tried another cache product and the result is this one.

Probably there’s something with my installation that is not appropriate to W3 Total Cache.

Thanks anyway for your patience and effort.

    Regards,
    JC

    Glad you found an answer!
