• Hello
I am running W3 Total Cache trunk, and as part of debugging something, I tried to uninstall the plugin earlier. Deactivating it went fine, but if I remove the actual folders on the server I get this message:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove xxxxx/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

Oddly enough, xxxxx/wp-content/advanced-cache.php isn’t there. Where does W3 Total Cache hook in to get this file requested *when the plugin isn’t active*?
I removed the /plugins/w3-total-cache, /wp-content/w3tc. I couldn’t see any other relevant files or folders.

  • Also remove: wp-content/db.php, wp-content/w3tc/ and wp-content/w3-total-cache-config.php`

I did, and it didn’t clear the error. I also tried restoring my .htaccess to the WordPress default and switching to a different web browser (and clearing its cache/cookies, just in case).

Well there aren’t any other W3TC files left. You can try to disable all plugins at once by moving them to a different folder name temporarily and see if something else is related.
