• I’ve been switching between Super Cache and Hyper-cache for the last two years and just recently discovered W3. It blows the other two out of the water, but there’s a deal breaker for me.

My site gets just 100,000 page views per day, but clocks in over 1000 to 1500 comments on the 10-20 posts I do daily. We moderate comments, so everytime a comment is approved that causes most cache plugins to invalidate the relevant cached page and create a new one. This is bad cause we do many many at a time and that brings down our singe quad core server.

Hyper-Cache has been great with my particular problem in that it allows you to set when to invalidate the cache. So I have it set to just purge the entire cache every hour and ignore any modifications like new approved comments or new posts.

W3 doesnt seem to be able to do this. Would it possible to just disable the page cache part of W3 and use it with Hyper Cache?

No, but this feature is coming in an upcoming release.
