  • Generally, you should view your page source from your browser, and copy & paste all your .js and .css files into the minify fields. Maybe in the free version, you only get instructions else you can pay and get full info.

@Homelite- You wrote “Maybe in the free version, you only get instructions else you can pay and get full info.” What are you talking about?! There is only one version of W3TC and it’s free.

When you use the wizard, below it says “Scripts that were not already detected above may require professional consultation to implement.” This is what I mean. The free component is limited to the plugin only.

OK, but I’m still curious why I’m not getting any suggestions on either site. I have another much simpler site running W3TC and the wizard gives suggestions for that one.

Did you try temporarily disabling other plugins to see if one is interfering?

I don’t see any Help Wizard in my Minify settings, as instructed in the FAQ :

” Or simply use the “Help” tool available on the minify settings page which will identify CSS and JS files used in the templates of your theme and properly assign them to the same. Simply tick the checkbox for files you wish to minify, click “Apply & close”, then save your settings.”

Is this still active in the latest version ?

    Hi there,

    I seem to be having the same problem as @robnalexpress. I have setup two sites; one a staging and another live. Both have the exact same settings in regards to the configuration of the plugin; however, on the live site when I click on ‘help’ in the minify section of the plugin, I can see all of my css and js files. But when I do the same on the staging site, I get the error below;

    JavaScript no file found
Cascading Style Sheets no files found.

The above error does not occur on the live site. The plugins on both the sites are exactly the same.

    TIA,

    Akhilesh

Are there any errors in your web server error log?

    Frederick,

Sorry for the late reply. This issue has somewhat been solved. I’ve just manually added in the css and js files for minification, and then they seem to show up when I hit the the ‘help’ button.

I know it’s not a perfect solution, but as long as the minification is working this way, I do not mind having to manually add the files.

    Cheers,

    Akhilesh

Manual mode is definitely not a bad way to go.
