• Hi,

My problems with wp-config.php and installing plug-ins all started after having a bad experience with W3 Total Cache. One day, it stopped working fine and I uninstalled it following directions froms the creator.

Now I am hitting 2 major issues:
    1) Unable to install any plug-in through the WordPress webpage: I get the following error “Download failed. Failed writing body (1490 != 4243)”
    2) I manually installed Quick Cache. But after enabling it through its custom menu, wp-config.php becomes totally blank and brings down my site. This happens every time I try to turn on caching.

Please help – I can’t install any plug-ins and wp-config.php seems to get randomly deleted.

  • So is W3 Total Cache currently installed?

    No. I manually uninstalled it.

I noticed there it was acting “funny” so I deactivated it across every site on my multi-site setup. When I got to the last site with it activated and deactivated the plugin, it brought down my WordPress site. After a bit of debugging, I noticed my wp-config.php was totally empty. I have no idea why this happened.

I get a feeling the uninstall is incomplete or it left my server/DB in a bad state.

    Any ideas?

No, but since I’ve not heard of this report before I would love to know how to duplicate.
