I am trying to figure out how to setup rackspace cloud files as a CDN but I don’t know how to set it up. The CDN section only has amazon listed. Rackspace says they have a plugin for wordpress but if I use their plugin will I still be able to combine CSS and JS files?

Not sure, do you have a link to their plugin? Also you need to enter first select the cloudfiles CDN type on general settings tab, then go to the cdn settings tab and enter your username, API key in the configuration box. Then specify or create a new container by entering that value in the container field. And finally enter the name of the container you wish to use in the “Replace site’s hostname with” field.

You can also optionally specify up to 10 hostnames (CNAMEs) if you’d like to further improve performance. Obviously your DNS Zone must be updated to use this feature.

The plugin they have listed on their website is this.

Also on my W3 general settings section for CDN I only have 3 options under “Origin push”. I have amazon cloudfront, amazon s3 and self hosted. I don’t see an option for cloud files. Also the two amazon options are grayed out. The only options I can choose are the mirror and the self hosted. Am I doing something wrong here?

I figured it out. I didn’t know I had to install the dev edition to get the Rackspace option. I have the option for setting up cloud files available now.

Ok, I’d thought you had the development release already since you were using WP 3.0.
