[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] duplicate image files

    is this true for those who use w3 total cache + wordpress + s3. my hosting/storage is very expensive and i would like to upload directly to amazon s3, but i dont like the idea that when i upload a picture, it gets uploaded to my hosting and s3.
    is there any way around this?

  • I guess you could manually load the pictures to S3 and put links to them in your posts/pages instead up using media to insert them.

    I’m not sure if it is possible to configure WP to use S3 as your media upload directory. If that would be possible, you could try that. Then you could try and stop W3TC from caching the files, as they wouldn’t be being served from your hosting server anyways.

    Does anyone else now how easy that is to do if at all possible?

    the thing is, i need to use the media option to upload my photos since i need the photos inside the wordpress gallery to use one of my image gallery plugins.

    that would be amazing if something that that exist

    Hmmm. I’m not sure that W3TC is going to do what you want. In fact I’m not sure any plugin is going to. Here is a list of some quick options I found by searching “S3”.

    Now, I’m pretty sure all of these will upload to your server and then to S3, but I didn’t spend much time looking at them, so I could be wrong. You could always use a non-WP gallery and manually enter the links to the images in you S3 bucket as well. More work, but then you also have more control.

    Also, you might want to look at getting a different host. One that doesn’t charge so much.
