[Plugin: Viper's Video Quicktags] Novice-trouble getting started

  • I have installed plug-in (successfully, maybe not)
    Only five icon buttons show: YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Veoh, Blip.tv.
    Actually I want to embed a PBS NewHour episode. I thought I might be able to do so using Viper’s Video Quicktags.
    Can you help?
    I use Graphene theme.

    PBS NewHour is not one of the video types my plugin supports.

    You’ll need to copy the embed HTML they provide to you and paste it into the “HTML” (not “Visual”) view in the editor.

    OK – thanks for the info Alex. I will use Viper’s for YouTube and cut and paste for NewsHour etc. –

    I only see YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Veoh, Blip.tv. icon buttons arrive.

    But Viper’s says the following are also supported:

    Veoh
    Viddler
    Metacafe
    Blip.tv
    VideoPress aka WordPress.com Video NEW!
    Flickr videos
    Spike.com/IFILM
    MySpaceTV
    —
    As well as these file types:

    Flash Video Files (FLV)
    QuickTime (MOV, etc.)
    Generic video files (AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.)

    Where do I get info on how to embed them with Vipers?

    I know this is not a Viper issue being that PBS NewsHour (and Democracy Now!) are not a Viper video type…
    I did copy and paste both embed code into the one HTML window – Results: the NewsHours video showed up as a yellow block with no controls or anything, and DemocracyNow! didn’t show up at all !
    Can you tell me what’s up, or direct me to WordPress help?

    You can enable buttons for the additional sites my plugin supports at Settings -> Video Quicktags.

    Cheers Alex -I did it –
    but not without running around and wasting time.
    Am I missing something! Like a User Manual? Or are users expected to chase the author.
    By the way, I find WP in general, un-necessarily difficult to learn.
    EG: I believe my problem posting the News videos was because I was trying to post two videos in one Post. I separated them into two Posts and copied and pasted the embed code in the HTML window – Now they both work!!
    But why is such a basic limitation not easily found or jumping up for the user somehow?

    The settings page is listed as the last step of the installation process, although the actual installation instructions on that page need updating. There’s also a ton of documentation at Settings -> Video Quicktags -> Help. I can’t help it if you don’t read the documentation that I’ve written. ??

    And you can post as many videos as you want in a post. You are not limited to one per post.
