[Plugin: Video Thumbnails] No thumbnail for embeded video using custom field

My theme uses custom fields to embed youtube videos .
The plugin generates thumnails when directly pasted the youtube embeded code in the post but no thumnail when inserted the code using custom field.
How can this be solved ,.. many thanks in advance!
