[Plugin: Verve Meta Boxes] Months names translation

Hello everyone.
Is there a possibility to translate Verve Meta Boxes plugin’s months names??
Actually when i use
<?php echo date("j.M.Y",strtotime(get_post_meta($post->ID, 'keyname', true)));?>
i get “19.Jan.2012” instead of italian language (19.Gen.2012)…Thanks in advance ??
