[Plugin: User Meta] How to have empty drop down option

On the drop downs, how do I have empty value? If there are no selection made, there is no data ( so I don’t get a return using members List search ) it sometimes returns the field but empty ( I am using for forst option ) so it thinks was an option… I don’t want to have anything if left unselected… any ideas? thx
