[Plugin: Use Google Libraries] Fatal error when installation is attempted

I attempted to use this on a very script heavy one page theme today and when I installed it this is what I got:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/d/a/v/davidlewistv/html/wp-content/plugins/use-google-libraries/use-google-libraries.php on line 42

Do you know what might be causing this? The installation I am working with is having a lot of slow loading/latency issues so I was hoping to be able to try this. Any help would be appreciated!
