Still asking me to upgrade to a version that wordpress is not recognizing an update for. What is going on?

It sounds like you may be using the Premium version — if so, then using the Premium support site at https://surniaulula.com/support/ is recommended since response times are faster and www.remarpro.com does not allow support of Pro / Premium versions in its forums.

The Standard and Premium versions have the same release numbers. Older versions of the WPSSO Update Manager could allow for newer Standard updates to slip through if a newer Premium update was not yet available. Make sure you are using the latest WPSSO Update Manager (currently v2.6.3). You can also click the SSO > Actions and Tools > Check for Updates button to manually clear the cache and refresh the update information.

Hi there and thank you for the reply. I’m actually using the free version and evaluating it to upgrade to the premium version. I deleted the plug-in and reinstalled in order to upgrade to the new version but doing that cause me to lose all of the settings which I had to reconfigure last night. there is definitely something going on because all of the SSO add-ons are reporting out of date except for a few and none of them are upgrading or being flagged to be updated by WordPress. If you need to see this yourself I am more than happy to give you access under a test account. I know this is not intentional and I would like to help you resolve it because your product has a lot of great reviews. And I would like to be successful with its use as well.

Yes, it sounds like you have an issue with your site.

Defining WP_DEBUG as true, checking the WordPress debug.log for errors, using the Query Monitor plugin, and checking your browser’s console for errors, are all things that may help you figure out what is going on with your site.

See here for more info: https://wpsso.com/docs/plugins/wpsso/installation/debugging-and-problem-solving/

Except its not just my site but actually four which are all on different servers in different environments and hardware.

Other plugins show they need to be upgraded just fine. I’m afraid this issue is related directly to your product.

Unless you’re using the WPSSO Update Manager add-on, which you wouldn’t be since you’re using the Standard version, then all update information and update ZIP files would come from www.remarpro.com.

I assume you have defined WP_DEBUG as true, the WordPress debug.log file shows no errors (when checking for, or installing updates), the Query Monitor shows no errors (when checking for, or installing updates), and your browser’s console shows no errors (when checking for, or installing updates).

WordPress stores its update information in the ‘update_plugins’ site transient. Assuming there are no errors interfering with the WordPress update system (see above to make sure everything is error free), then the ‘update_plugins’ site transient might be out of date. Try clearing the WordPress transient objects (there are several plugins to do this).

Since the WordPress Plugins page uses javascript / jquery and is susceptible to javascript / jquery bugs from your theme and other plugins, make sure to use the WordPress Dashboard > Updates page for a more reliable update process.

I’m using wssso update addon plugin which i downloaded from www.remarpro.com. I’ll check out the transient plugins your talking about but I’m noticing this issue on four machines which update other plugins with no issue.

If you have installed and activated the WPSSO Update Manager add-on, you should deactivate and uninstall it. The WPSSO Update Manager is designed to provide Premium updates for licensed sites. Since your site is not licensed, then no Premium update information would be available.

Deleting update manager didn’t help and all expired transients were removed. On the other sites update manager wasn’t there yet all four sites are still reporting that plugins are out of date in wpsso dahboard but wordpress says they are totally updated when i visit “updates” under wordpress.

And you are correct. We have no errors reporting. What now? This seems to be an issue with your product. All four sites aren’t using the same plugins except wpsso,w3tc, and a few others.

W3TC has well known issues with its object cache, so you may try disabling that plugin, or that feature, to see if it fixes the issue. You may need to click on the WordPress Dashboard > Updates > Check Again button to force a refresh of the ‘update_plugins’ site transient.

Another possibility would be if a plugin was installed site wide in a multisite, but also installed a single site / blog, and the single site / blog plugin was current, but the multisite plugin was an older version. That would be a bit of a weird setup though, and I’m not sure that’s even possible…
