Plugin Updates Disappear

  • I am running WordPress 5.8. Recently when I first login to the Admin Dashboard, I see several plugin updates pending. When I visit the Plugin Panel or Updates Panel, the updates disappear.

    I then activate WP Safe Mode plugin (normally I leave it disactivated) and the Plugin Updates reappear and I am able to navigate to the Plugins panel and process the updates.

    What could be happening here? Why is WP Safe Mode making the issue disappear just by being activated?

    Any clues?
