    In Settings -> Advanced Automatic Updates, do you have “update plugins automatically” enabled? When you initially install AAU, this defaults to disabled.

    Sure !

    Have installed this on several sites recently, all of the relevant boxes ticked and it doesn’t work on any of them! A major disappointment!

    Mee too. Installed on 4 sites and not 1 update executed !

    Worked perfectly until the WordPress 3.8 upgrade then stopped working altogether.

    I’m having the same issue on a multisite installation, plugin updates are not working. I now have 17 plugins needing updates over a few months. Not sure what the problem is. I don’t have Better WP Security active, I’ve checked other threads and can’t find anything else, and checked the background updater:

    PASS: Your WordPress install can communicate with www.remarpro.com securely.
    PASS: No version control systems were detected.
    PASS: Your installation of WordPress doesn’t require FTP credentials to perform updates.
    PASS: All of your WordPress files are writable.

    This site is able to apply these updates automatically. Cool!

    Help?

    It’s not working for me either. First, I tried auto updates without using this plugin. I modified my wp-config file to enable automatic updates by adding the following line:

    add_filter( 'auto_update_plugin', '__return_true' );

    That had no effect. So I tried this plugin, and it doesn’t work either. Could it be that my folder permissions aren’t what they should be?

    Disregard my last comment. The filter I tried to use in wp-config.php is supposed to be used in a plugin, not wp-config. Also, I’m assuming it takes 12 hours to check for updates, so I’ll wait and see.

    I had some progress, I manually updated all the plugins, and then after, this plugin is updating them ok now. Perhaps there was something blocking or creating an error previously. It’s working ok again now.

    Nope – doesn’t work in 3.9.1
