I was shocked to see today that a plugin (WooCommerce) was automatically updated even though it (and all of my plugins) have disabled autoupdate. This is a very bad business, especially when the whole update and testing cycle is short-circuited. It happened on two completely independent

Nothing like this has ever happened before. How was this possible? There are no signs of the site being pirated.

  • The same thing happened to me. First time as well. I hope this gets addressed soon! This is not a good thing for woocommerce! Very disappointed in them at the moment, to say the least!

The 6.3.1 update was a security update. I think what you’re seeing is that since version 3.7 or so, WordPress will push security updates for plugins if they judge them to be serious enough to justify it, whether or not you have autoupdates enabled. It doesn’t happen often.

@josiah-s-carberry @stevew52 version 6.3.1 is a security release. If you had version 6.3.0, this may have been it.

Thanks for the quick response. At least that makes sense.
