  • Hi @apnardeal,

We’re sorry to hear about this problem after updating. If you have any information about errors or any errors that appear in your PHP error logs, that will help us investigate.

We’d like to make sure that Yoast SEO isn’t missing any files, so we recommend upgrading Yoast SEO manually. We have instructions on how to upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#manual. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.

As an alternative you can safely delete and re-install the plugin without losing any SEO data.

If there’s still a problem after re-installing it, we recommend checking for conflicts. We have a step-by-step guide here:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

I just had a critical error on my site after trying to update to latest version of Yoast SEO on WP 5.5. Will check the manual install instructions.

Manual update to Version 14.8.1 worked okay.
