Hye, from admin area when I try to upload an updated plugin file to update a given plugin it says this plugin is already installed… That’s what it always say because the plugin folder already exists and I’m just uploading the updated file… However its not giving me the option that say “Replace current with uploaded” … Please see the picture https://ibb.co/V9P1tYw to understand what happens (as you can see its entirely blank)… I will attach this picture here to show you what suppose to show when I update plugin files from admin dashboard https://ibb.co/1fVcjRD (you can see where it give me the option to replace current with updated…

By process of elimination (deactivaing all plugins and activated them one by one) I was able to determine the culprit is wordfence… Can you please assist and let me know why this is occuring and possible solution thanks

Hello @my2424u and thanks for reaching out to us!

Thanks for providing the screenshots as well!

I have not seen this issue before in the past with updating plugins. I wonder if the WAF is seeing this as a malicious upload and blocking the request.

Try to enable Learning Mode, then update a plugin. From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the actions that were causing issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if these actions work correctly.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

Let me know how this goes!

    Thanks again!
