Plugin Update causing shipping calculation chaos

The required update has been a nightmare. Yesterday our store was down the entire day, as the old system closed on the 26th Dec, which meant the plugin stopped working (no suburbs could be found in the system, so you were unable to checkout). Zero support available from head office as it was a public holiday, so had to create a store-wide notice saying you cannot check out. Now today with the new plugin update that is REQUIRED, you are no longer able to select the shipping types you want excluded, and when you go to the checkout page, every shipping type under the sun is selected, and YOU CANNOT DESELECT ANYTHING. So a customer wanting to by a R300 product will have to spend R1500 on shipping. This is ridiculous guys. Come on. Especially with ZERO support staff available to even verify that there is a problem. Seriously considering telling my clients to switch couriers.
