• I could not remove this plugin via the WordPress admin interface. WordPress reported the error “Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) advanced-access-manager/aam.php”.

Interestingly, it seems that I’m not the only one who suffered from this issue. Different people on the net encountered the same problem with this plugin and it seems that most of the time its author pointed the finger to wordpress or other things but never to his plugin.

Personally I could un-install other plugins without problem, hence this was clearly a problem with this “aam” plugin.

Not later than tonight I met a friend who also confirmed that me that he had a lot of issue with this plugin and he decided to no use it anymore.

On my side I’ve had to manually remove the plugin via ftp and I’ve also had to access the DB to move the entries made by this plugin. What a waste of time when normally such plugin should make the life easier.

I’m not expecting any response from the author, given what I’ve seen in other forums, it is clear that the response would anyway point me to everything but not this plugin at all.

  • Hi Nicolas,
I personally appreciate your feedback and understand your concern. This is usually happens when users like you do not understand and appreciate the power that WordPress CMS and WordPress community gives for free.
AAM, like any other plugin from official WordPress repository, can be removed either manually or from admin backend. Once in a while it happens that this is not a case but this happens with any plugin (different server configurations, PHP version, database etc).

For future reference, AAM does not modify database entries unless you change role capabilities. All other settings does not affect website if AAM is deactivated.

For you Nicolas I would recommend to read WordPress Roles & Capabilities and give up with idea that everything here is for granted. Your website is your hard work.

    Good luck and best regards,
    Vasyl
