  • Sounds like there is a conflict with another plugin. If you want you can list eh plugins you have installed and I’ll see if I can recreate the issue.

    Same problem here:
    My installed plugins are:
    Adminimize
    Akismet
    BackWPup
    Contact Form 7
    emObA
    Exec-PHP
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Gwolle Guestbook
    Jetpack von WordPress.com
    Link Library
    Mail On Update
    NextGEN Gallery
    Post Expirator
    TinyMCE Advanced
    WordPress Database Backup
    WP-Print
    WP Security Scan

I’ll take a look at this today and see if I can spot the conflict.

It may be related to how the host handles the header status. Just a thought. One of the problem sites was being hosted on FatCow.

Yeah I have seen this before as well. The plugin returns a 503 header status and some how just show a white screen Good call @tkjm ??

Post you url and I can take a look a the response headers.

We realized this was the issue when we installed a different maintenance plugin and received the same result. (I’m assuming it was returning a 503 header status as well.)

To correct this issue with our site we had to comment out the response headers. We realize this isn’t ideal but we weren’t able to receive any kind of worthwhile support from FatCow and it’s better than a blank page. Showing a blank page is an incorrect action on FatCow’s part – the 503 header status is appropriate for this implementation.

I’m assuming there is nothing we can do on our end to bypass the blank page other than commenting out the response header. We’re up for any suggestions though!

I’m going to add an option to disable the 503 header output. That’s about the only option I have from my end.

Should this problem really appear right after installing and activating the plugin?
Does it really put the page into maintenance mode right after installing?

I would have thought, that I have to set an option somewhere…

    My hoster is campusspeicher.de.
The URL of the page is https://www.feuerwehr-damp.de.
At the moment, I deactivated the themes and hopefully this weekend I’ll find some time to see which other plugin is causing the problem…

Ok, just activated the plugin again.
The page seems to be working, but when I try to open the plugin page in the backend, I get a white blank screen ??
This seems to be the only page affected…

    Ok, I tried some more:
    I deactivated all the plugins.
And activated one by one. When I activated the last one of my list (Adminimize) the blank screen occured. So I deactivated all the plugins and only activated ultimate maintenance mode and adminize but the everything was ok.
Then I activated all the other plugins and still everything was fine. Then Jetpack wants to connect to wordpress.com, so I authorized it, and the blank screen was back.
    Any ideas?

I’ll test with those plugins today and get back to you.

    Hi!
    Just to let you know:
The problem was memory related. My hoster did not display error messages so I did not see immediately… Got a memory upgrade and everything is working fine so far.
(Need 128 MB to run WordPress…)
