I’ve been running the Twitter Tools 1.5 betas for a couple of weeks on my site, publishing a daily digest around 23:30 local time.

Every once in a while I’ve noticed an extra copy or two of the digest showing up in the scheduled posts, scheduled for 24 hours later. I never got around to tracking down the problem, just deleted the extra posts.

Yesterday I upgraded to 1.5 final, and today I found something very strange: last night’s digest had been posted on time, but more than 30 copies were scheduled to appear tonight! I cleared them all out, checked back an hour or two later, and saw another 3 copies had been scheduled.

I looked at the database, and aktt_next_daily_digest was still pointing to last night’s time. I assume it just noticed there was a digest due, built it, scheduled it, but never updated the scheduled time.

I ended up hitting the button to reset TT, and the option pointed to tonight. So far one more copy has shown up, but it could have popped in between the time I cleared the old ones and the time I hit reset. I’ll keep an eye on it, and post a followup if I see any more, either for last night’s digest or for tonight’s.

In case it matters, I’m in the -08:00 (PST) timezone, so at the time I’ve chosen, the local date and UTC date are different.

It looks like the patch worked for me too. Just one post last night, though it was posted at 11:59 instead of the time I’d selected, 11:30.

The patch didn’t completely work for me. I only got 2 posts instead of 30+ but it’s still one more than I wanted!

I still don’t know how to solve the problem about those 2 thousand+ posts already made. Mass Post Manager won’t delete the posts – even though it says it succesfully deleted them… and Alex’s blog still gives me 404 error, can anyone put his patch elsewhere so I can download it?

Well, the patch worked the first nite after I installed it. But it didn’t work right last nite. Only a single post was created, but it was scheduled for tonite rather than last nite. I just don’t know what to do about this.

Chalky, same here. Last night I got 2 posts. Better than hundreds but it means the plugin still isn’t 100% fixed. Strange.

I’m consistently getting only one post per day now. It seems to be getting built at the time I set in the config, but scheduled for 11:59 pm instead of published immediately.

Before, when I was getting multiple posts per day, they were all being scheduled for 11:59 pm on the day they were built. So the duplicates that were generated after midnight ended up scheduled for the following night.

The same thing happened to me too. I am on WP 2.6.3. and TT 1.5.1. I was lucky that it posted only 2 last night but it already scheduled 40 more for tonight with the same post. I deleted them but still they keep appearing so I don’t have a clue what to do. I set the plugin to post one weekly digest of all the tweets. If anyone tried the fix on Alexking’s please share your experience.
Cheers and hope it will get fixed.

Try version 1.6b1 – hopefully it fixes this.

I am getting duplicate posts with wp 281 and version 1.6

I’ve been randomly getting multiple posts of the daily archives for awhile and scratching my head trying to figure out some pattern. Today I think I figured it out.

I am currently running WP 2.8.1 with TT 1.6, though this was occurring with WP 2.7.1, too. I’m not an active tweeter so usually I only have one tweet per day. The days that I do tweet more often are the days multiples of the daily archives are posted — one for each tweet I made that day.

This means I have to delete all the extra posts on my blog, as well as all the extras that were crossposted to Myspace, Facebook and Livejournal. *sigh*

I’m getting multiple weekly digests still. I’ve removed Twitter Tools and I’ll set it up again later. Maybe an uninstall/reinstall will help?
