[Plugin: Twitter Tools] Can't register app with Twitter api

Following the byzantine instructions on the new Twitter Tools Options page doesn’t work.
It instructs me to register the site as an app on Twitter’s app registration page.
So I go to https://dev.twitter.com/apps/create ; type in Twitter Tools as the Application Name, put in all the rest of the info as instructed.
And.. Twitter says: “‘Twitter Tools’ has already been taken The application name can’t include ‘twitter’.”

Any ideas for how to get this plugin working again?
