Hi Sarah,
I was just having the same problem today with a new installation of Tweet This (I use TweetThis on our other sites too, without any problem), but I managed to fix it, so thought I’d pass on what I did to get it working…..
First, you should check if it is actually connecting properly by doing a quick manual tweet via the tweet this tweet box located under the “posts” tab – (I tried this and my manual Tweet worked properly & went to twitter, but my posts were still not being tweeted…)
THEN – open up your posts & DELETE any “custom fields boxes” that are associated with the “tweet this” application (….at the bottom of the post there are custom fields – mine had about 4 or 5 of them specifically to do with the “tweet this” app, including one which mentioned “401” – so I deleted them). Then tick the “send to twitter” checkbox again & save the article – it should now post it to twitter.!!!
Seems that once it gets a 401 or error etc in it’s memory then it holds that information & assumes there is still no connection/authentication….
Anyway, it worked for me! hope this information helps you Sarah, or anyone else having the same issue.
Cheers, Karen.
