• When publishing or saving a post in WordPress I receive this error:
Tumblrize could not crosspost this entry because Tumblr has rejected your username or password.

I have checked and rechecked my Tumblr login info in the settings, disabled other plugins, etc. with no luck.

Was working earlier but I think it stopped when I updated the WP version from 3.3.x to 3.4.x

    Great plugin otherwise!

  • There we go – thanks Xictus. Apparently developers are going to have to comply with Tubmlr api v.2. Hopefully things can be patched up.

well… i won’t have any hope on this. You can notice this:
    Last Updated: 2010-10-11

    =/

wordpress.com seems to have enable this wordpress to tumblr feature officially. But i don’t know what can we do for www.remarpro.com

Thank you, xictus, for the word on why this has gone wrong. I would imagine that there are developers all over the place scrambling to fix this problem, assuming they know about it, including whatever process sends posts to Tumblr from Flickr through the normal Tumblr share button, which also wasn’t working yesterday.

The reason that the last update on Tumblrize is 2010 is probably because it hasn’t needed fixing since then (one can only hope), so I guess the next question becomes, How do we let the Tumblrize developers know that this is a problem now? Or do they monitor this kind of forum for problems.

While we’re at it, has anyone had a problem with WordPress getting hung up after a post when trying to view “All Posts” following a post? I can post one post after another, until I go to view All Posts; then the browser gets hung up and I have to exit WP and reenter to view All Posts. Sound familiar to anyone? Might as well get this fixed at the same time.

Does anyone know if there is a contact for Tumblrize so we can communicate directly with someone?

    Janet.??.?

You may want to consider using IFTTT. Their is a “recipe” https://ifttt.com/recipes/4995 that may replace this plugin.

    Not working as well.

Yeah I just looked through the code. It’s using Tumblr’s v1 API for sure. It is also using at least one deprecated WordPress function as well.

The big change between v1 and v2 of the API is that Tumblr now wants OAuth authentication. That and it’s formatted the API calls differently.

The code is well documented but my experience level with PHP is low and I’ve never used OAuth. It’d take me a few weeks to get it working I’m pretty sure (not that I really even have the time). Plus I’m a little fuzzy on if it means every install needs to authenticate with Tumblr, or if it is a one time deal.

Are the original devs out there, or someone else more familiar with working with OAuth in PHP?

Brentnau’s suggestion should provide a temporary solution. I was able to get it to function in about 3 minutes.

It doesn’t work retroactively though; all changes/edits must be done in WP and Tumblr.

Still, thanks for that, @brentnau – I’m checking out some of their other features now. Looks like some of them might also be useful.

    Cheers!

    @Tertoma @brentnau

How secure does that service look? Are they asking you for passwords and emails to connect WP and Tumblr?

I’m a little paranoid of web services that deal exclusively in collecting my login information. Plugins for wordpress are fine. I can see the code if need be. I’m weary of trusting someone in San Francisco I don’t know with access to my WP and Tumblr accounts.

Thank you, Brentnau, for that referral!
Thank you, Teratoma, for the test run!
Thank you, Nojh, for looking at the code and making observations!

I’d sure like to keep Tumblrize, with all its features, but I may switch, at least temporarily, to Brentnau’s suggested plugin. I’m hoping a developer will come to the rescue on Tumblrize.

    Janet.??.?

Yeah, they ask for login info. Not the best arrangement. Unless I find something else ultra useful there I only intend to use it until someone writes a new plugin.

Hmmm, IFTTT requires that you set up and account and then DOES require all the credentialing information for both WP and Tumblr. @nojh, have you looked at this at all yet? I’ve never heard of ITFFF, but then that doesn’t mean much.

Watch yourselves with ITFFF…when I activated WP-to-Tumblr, it activated me for seven channels instead of only Tumblr. I ran a test post, but haven’t seen it work yet for posting automatically to Tumblr.

Hmm. Not in love with ITFFF. I suppose I’ll just double post by hand but it doesn’t look as pretty as when Tumblrize does it. I’m surprised there aren’t more plugins between tumblr and WP.

I’ll keep my eyes open for a fix.

Ohh nice, I thought I am alone with this problem, also tried tumble and others plugins with no effect.
