I have just tried to install this widget on my site. While all the other Plugins have loaded and worked fine this one fails despite saying it installed correctly. All I get is a couple of clashing links at the top of the widget page that give 404 errors

I am wondering if this is because I have WP3.1 installed in a sub directory with a revised copy of index.php in the root.

This is because you’ve installed it in a subdirectory. We’ve recently found this bug and have spent a good portion of time to make the appropriate fixes. Additionally, I’ll be spending today to install wp in a subdirectory with and without redirects to virtual directories to make sure that all of the links are working properly.

I apologize for the inconvenience, look forward to me pushing that fix tonight. I hope, that if you ranked us with a 1 star, that you will reconsider after dealing with our support.

Thank your for such a prompt reply. In terms of ranking I have not made any attempt to do that yet. I am well aware that problems can be for reasons that the original designer has limited control over. Only once I am confident I have not dropped a clanger do I comment.
In case it is of any relevance I have the following plugins installed and working in the configuration described.

    • All in One SEO Pack
    • Contact Form 7
    • Google Analytics for WordPress
    • Google XML Sitemaps
    • Page Teaser Widget
    • Pronamic Google Maps
    • SexyBookmarksWP
    • Super Cache

I look forward to giving your product another try in due course

I was going to push my latest version up last night, but decided to send it out for some further testing before I did. Here’s a copy that is soon to be released, it should work for you.

    This is version 1.5.12 BETA

A quick play suggests there are still a few issues. The links work now so I can activate it fine but the links are difficult to see and read as they have three ‘boxes’ over the top of them. Took a screen cap but then realised you cannot upload it here!

When I deactivated the plugin it did not seem to clear the widgets back to default WordPress either, leaving a widget I had added via the plugin live. This could be Super Cache not picking up the change as it should of course as after I reactivated TWC, trashed the widget, then cleared the cache it was fine.

I’m not in a rush to deploy the plugin on the live site so I will have a play on the test version once I have a little more time to see what it does. Maybe with the final revision

It’s not going to clear your widgets back to default upon deactivating it.
this uses the same widget system as wordpress. upon activation twc should show the widgets from your core. upon deactivation you should still see these same widgets.

If your widgets get thrown in the trash when activating/deactivating then we need to do a little more work on this to avoid confusion.

The problem is that different people want this to operate in different ways. I’ve installed my own subdirectory and did some tricky redirects to further confuse the plugins. here’s my fixes.

Confirm the fixes for me and i’ll push this to wp

I have now had time to install the latest version. Unfortunately there still seems to be some problems.

The widget page now displays correctly. (I now see that funny link at the top was an upgrade box) Where I ran into problems was the fact that the page I wanted to add a widget to was not on the ‘most recent list’. It seems the ‘all’ and ‘search’ tabs are not functional restricting my choice to the most recent tab

Actually the funny link at the top that you were having problems with before should have been the toggle tabs to switch back and forth between twc and core.

If the all and search tabs are not working, it’s because some other plugin is causing a javascript error.
