[Plugin: Top 10] Extremely high post count in 24 hours

  • I added a new post to my blog yesterday and this morning it was the most popular post with a count is 2,581. The previous top post has only 917 and it was been on the site for months. I checked visits to my site with Google Analytics and I only had about 100 visits yesterday, which is typical. So I don’t know why the post count would be so high for this new post.

    Any ideas?

    I just checked again and in the last hour the count for that post has gone up to 3,532!

    P.S. Sorry for the duplicate posts. I’m not sure how that happened.

    Could it be that someone or something is hitting your site with the same IP?
    Google analytics may not record that but since Top 10 doesn’t record IPs, then it could explain this

    Turns out the count was accurate after all! I checked Google Analytics today to get an accurate count of yesterday’s visitors and it was almost 4000. For some reason the post I made that day attracted a lot of attention and the link got reposted on a few sites. I just wish I had that kind of audience every day!
