Plugin to show titles of posts from 1 category – hard???

    I want to set a blog which has menus for each of the categories. So a page that does “Red cars” has only posts about red cars. Since there are many posts on this topic I need a widget that just shows the titles posts from “Red cars”

    When I search there doesn’t seem to be a plugin for this. I have made a few simple plugins before and have some experience of php.

    The fact that there are no plugins (that are supported at least) makes me wonder if its feindishly difficult. On the face of it i wouldn’t have thought this would be that hard.

    So my question is really nor how do you do this, but rather am i right in thinking that it shouldn’t really be that difficult?

    Hi Esmi – thanks for your reply. I guess I might be using the word “Page” wrongly. The link was useful but didn’t really answer my question.

    Suppose you use the normal “Posts” widget and then click the link that displays say the last 5 posts for a certain category in the main area. When you arrive at that “Page” the widget displays posts from ALL categories. I want it to only display posts that are in that category. So its like a widget that will display “ALL the titles in this category” rather than “All the titles that there are” (up to the limit you put in, obviously)

    Is that going to be hard?

    Sorry but I’m not sure what you mean by “the normal “Posts” widget”. Are you referring to the Category widget in Appearance -> Themes?

    yes, sorry! I mean the “recent posts” widget.

    Thanks – I insttalled that but it doesn’t do what I want. It uses tags (and we want cateories although I guess we could live with tags). However, you make one selection and that’s it – so say you pick the tags “fred” and “Jane” then if you are on teh “Boris” page it will display “fred” adn “Jane” whereas we really wanted only Boris.

    I couldn’t find anything that did waht I wanted in the plugins search (or at least one that’s supported) which is why I was thinking I’d have to make one. But I don’t really want to embark on something that is going to prove really, really hard. I don’t mind getting stuck a bit though!
