• As I have a number of users who keep forgetting their passwords, I wanted to add the ability to email users their password when they change it. My website is small, and I’m not ultra concerned with password security. I couldn’t find a plugin that would do this, but patching the code directly seems easy enough, even for someone like me who doesn’t know PHP. Problem is I don’t want to have to do it every time there’s an update. Is there a plugin that would let me semi-autonomously patch or modify the code of core files?

Hopefully not! Modifying core files is flat out a bad idea.

Why can’t your users just use the lost password link on your WordPress login form?

I haven’t figured out how to get the lost password link to actually email users their passwords.

Well, does anyone know of an ‘autopatcher’ utility? Perhaps something that runs in Windows, grabs the PHP file by FTP, modifies it, and uploads it back?
