As far as I understand, the abiity to have the option for comments on a Page is dependent on whether or not that tag is coded into the theme. If this is correct, is there any plugin that enables this option for any theme whether or not it was coded that way? If not, (not knowing anything about creating plugins) is there any reason I shouldn’t be able to have someone code such a plugin? Is it even feasible?

    Thanks!

  • just add the tag to your page.php file.

Thanks, jetshack. But I am trying to teach people with no understanding of website coding how they can easily setup and maintain a website without digging into code. I, personally, could easily add the code to the page.php. However, I would like to make it a matter of just uploading a plugin for beginner users.

How do you make comments show ON the page?

or she could just find a theme that supports that
    allows comments on pages….

No. Decidedly not. Themes can do virtually anything and don’t adhere to any sort of given standard.

    So definitely, definitely, not possible.

Thanks to everyone for feedback. Can’t tell which ones have this enabled until you download and install the theme – this is why was hoping to be able to put on any theme easily. But guess I’ll just dig through and find several to choose from that are enabled this way and give instructions for adding to code in case the beginner user really wants to use a theme that is not already coded with it.

Generally speaking, if the theme is sorta-semi-standard, you can usually get away with just sticking in <?php comments_template(); ?> where you want the comments to show up. This assumes the theme has a comments.php and such, of course.
