[Plugin: Theme My Login] CAUTION, avoid this Plugin
-
the wordpress plugin “Theme my login” trashed my entire theme, and replaced all the original wordpress install files with files Plastered with BY FROSTY.
In addition to not working, the plugin caused my links to stop working, I was not able to click on anything, including the nav bar page menu items.Tried to log back in and get this big ugly great log in box/screen, and again it says powered by Frosty, or something stupid like that.
with a rating of around 80%,, which I belive all to be fake, again I say AVOID this plugin, it replaces all your admin .php files with “powered by frostey” garbage, and the only way to correct this vandalism is by reinstalling wordpress.

Wow, that is unbelievable. I assure you, whatever your woes, Theme My Login did not cause them. I urge you, and anybody who believes this nonsense, to review the code for yourself: https://svn.wp-plugins.org/theme-my-login/
And PLEASE, know what you are talking about before posting such garbage for the world to see.
@ Jeff
Hi, im sorry, but thats what Happened, I even tried it on the plain new install of twenty ten, using the latest version of wordpress. The plugin sounds great, but it totally screwed up my installation of twenty ten. And im not a novice when it comes to wordpress themes and plugins.
When was the last time you downloaded and installed the plugin? Please try it, on a new install of wordpress 3.2.2 and theme twenty ten.
If I get board I could try it again on a test server, but honestly, Why does it have to have so many files?
Correction on the last post, I screwed up the WordPress installation,
replacing the theme did not undo the damage it did. Please try the theme on the newest version of wordpress. with twenty ten.
By Frosty is not from this plugin, it’s from WP SEO.
And even that does not write anything in the theme, except a few HTML comments.
It seems your theme itself is broken. Get a new theme, and start over.
I just received an Email containing the following:

It seems your theme itself is broken. Get a new theme, and start over. The message on the pages said something like @thefrostey or something like that, I didnt really care to note it, since I was more concerned with removing the plugin.
It could not have been from SEO, and the theme was not broken, It was a NEW install of wordpress, and an original install of the twenty ten theme.
All I know is I was not able to undo the install by deactivating the plugin, and ended up reinstalling wordpress completely.
I install a fresh WordPress every day or so. Neither WP SEO nor this plugin does what you mention.
Sorry mate, you need to air your disgruntlement elsewhere. A plugin written in PHP that doesn’t have this functionality written in it will not somehow magically create havoc only on your server. As you know. So the problem is something else and if you wish to avoid it in the future, you might want to root-cause the actual problem.

I didnt say it, you did, I have no idea why it happened, I just know that it was a fresh install of both WP3.2.2 and the Twenty Ten theme.
The plugin sounded great, just what I was looking for, but for whatever reason it did not work.
Im sorry Pkiula who ever you are, if I offended you!
This should solve your mystery:
thefrosty.com
You probably have a theme or plugin from them. Those are the guys to stay away from if their code breaks your WordPress.
I’m just a guy who passionately loved WordPress. I just started using Theme My Login plugin, and while it’s not ideal (as my other question in this forum should tell you), it still is quite a simple and useful plugin.

I just started using Theme My Login plugin, and while it’s not ideal (as my other question in this forum should tell you), it still is quite a simple and useful plugin. Thanks for the reply, and yes, that could very well be the cause, since I was trying out two other LOGIN related plugins at the time.
And Yes, it was a mystery, since I could not see why I was getting the thefrostry message on several pages.
The other plugins were quickly deactivated, and so I assumed they were.
My apologies, to Jeff Farthing, as I will go ahead and create another install of wordpress, just to test his plugin again.
thanksI just installed this plugin, it actually does what I was looking for, it seems very good compared to all other loging/registration plugin I tried. More importantly, my site is warm and not FROSTY at all :).
SO, Thanks for the developers. I have one question, how can I apply my theme css to this plugin style,
Thanks
Ok, New install of wordpress 3.2.2, using Twenty Ten theme.
Installed the plugin “Theme My Login”
First thing I did before testing anything is configured redirects to send all users to the home page. I logged out, and am not able to log back in at all. Getting this error message every time I try.Notice: get_userdatabylogin is deprecated since version 3.3! Use get_user_by(‘login’) instead. in /home/public_html/demo/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3467

So, no, the plugin is not what caused the @thefrostey messages plastered all over the page, but it still is not working for me.
Any ideas?
Ok, deleted the plugin (since I was not able to log in to deactivate it). Logged in the normal way. reinstalled the plugin, this time I did NOT change any of the default settings. Logged out, tried to log back in,, still same error messages, and I’m still not able to log in.
Ill keep messing with it to figure out why, but one thing I did notice, is the plugin modified the standard WordPress Meta widget, by removing everything but “Login/Logout”.
I really dont like it when plugins make changes to wordpress core files.
Hey Jeff, major issues with the plugin. First, it is not compatible with wp 3.3.2. When I installed it I started getting an error on my admin login screen which I ignored. This morning, I was locked out of my site because of “too many failed login attempts”.
After chatting with tech support at my host and then checking the wp org forums I found that the issue was the Theme My Login plugin. After removing the files, everything works great.
I would not recommend this plugin to anyone until you have tested and made sure it is compatible with wp 3.3.2.
Thanks
WillI did find one other un-explainable issue. For what ever reason I keep getting two occurrences of the LOGIN nav bar menu item Tab. (my home page gets replaced with another login page).
I just read the previous post, and I am also starting to wonder if theme-my-login of not compatible with wp 3.2.2
The plugin has a 80% review rating, so obviously its working for some people. Then again, I am not one to let even the minor issues go un noticed. Other than that, Im still pretty bugged that the plugin modifies the default Meta widget, and makes me wonder how many other wp core files.
